Loreto Media LLC ("we", "our", or "us") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your data when you use our mobile application. We are committed to protecting your personal information and your right to privacy.

2. Data Collection and Storage

Captain's Log is designed with a "local-first" philosophy, meaning your data primarily resides on your device.

a. Local Data

Your journal entries, projects, tasks, and time logs are stored locally on your device.

b. Cloud Backup & Sync (Optional)

We provide an optional cloud backup and synchronization service using Google Firebase. If you choose to sign in and use this feature, your data (including profile, projects, todos, and time entries) will be securely transmitted to and stored on Google Cloud Platform servers to allow you to restore your data or sync across devices.

c. Account Information

If you create an account to use cloud features, we collect your email address and name to manage your account and authentication. We use Firebase Authentication for this purpose.

d. AI Summaries (Optional)

If you choose to use the "Summarize" feature, the content needed to generate that summary is sent to the OpenAI API for processing. This is optional and only occurs when you request a summary. By tapping or triggering summarize, you opt in to sending that selected content for processing.

3. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

• Google Firebase: For authentication, database storage (if backup is enabled), and analytics.
• Google Analytics / Crashlytics: We may collect anonymous, aggregated usage data (such as app crashes, session duration, or feature usage statistics) to help us improve the app's stability and performance. This data does not include your personal journal content.
• OpenAI API: Used only when you choose the optional summarize feature. We do not sell data you submit for summaries. Processing and retention by OpenAI are governed by OpenAI's policies, and submitted content may be used by OpenAI to improve or train its services.

4. Data Security

We implement reasonable security measures to protect your information. Your data stored in the cloud is protected by Google's security infrastructure. However, please be aware that no application or internet transmission is completely secure.

5. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you.
• Request deletion of your account and associated cloud data.
• Export your local data.
• Decline AI processing by not using the optional summarize feature.

6. AI Use and User Responsibility

Please avoid submitting sensitive personal, financial, health, or confidential third-party information when using AI summaries. You are responsible for the content you choose to submit through summarize features and for confirming you have the right to share that content.

We do not sell your personal data. We do not provide legal, tax, or professional advice through AI-generated summaries.

7. Children's Privacy

Our service is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The updated version will be indicated by an updated "Last updated" date.
